Russia reeling with 1,000 troops wiped out by Ukraine | World | News

Russia lost another 1,000 soldiers in a 24-hour period during fighting in Ukraine as Vladimir Putin continues to throw more men at the conflict.

The General Staff of Ukraine’s forces claims on Facebook that Russia lost 1,020 people during fighting on September 16.

They added: “Ukrainian soldiers also damaged two tanks, six combat armoured vehicles, six artillery systems, one RSZV, 66 operational-tactical level BPLA, 27 cars and a unit of special equipment of the occupiers”

Kyiv’s forces also say that there were 157 combat clashes on Monday.

The General Staff of Ukraine’s forces continued: “Overall, across the frontline of combat, Ukrainian defenders are inflicting significant losses in live force and equipment to the occupation troops, depleting the enemy’s combat potential.”

The Ministry of Defence in the UK estimates that Russia has suffered more than 610,000 casualties.

They said earlier this month: “Russia’s casualty rate will likely continue to average above 1,000 a day throughout September 2024 as Russia continues operations on a wide front from Kursk in the north to Robotyne in the south,”

Russia is still on the offensive in the east of Ukraine, closing in on towns like Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region.

Putin is planning to throw even more soldiers into the war amid reports he has ordered the country’s military to increase its number of troops by 180,000.

This is the third time he has expanded the number of military personnel being sent to Ukraine since the war began in 2022.

As a result, Russia will have an overall number of 2.4 million Russian military personnel, including 1.5 million troops.

While Russian troops are moving forward in Ukraine, the Kursk incursion has caused big problems for the Kremlin.

Moscow claimed on Monday that its forces have taken back two villages in the Kursk region as it continues its counteroffensive there.

Troops have been fighting there since early August when Ukrainian forces launched a surprise attack and took 100 villages over an area of more than 1,300 sq km.
