The distraught mother of a 26-year-old young man who disappeared in Majorca has raised an extreme weather alarm as she keeps looking for her son.
Ben Ross, from Golbourne, Greater Manchester, was reunited with his mother Felix Robinson on July 22 after disappearing for a first time in early July following the theft of most of his possessions while he swam in Palma de Majorca.
After finding him, the mum-of-three noticed he appeared to be experiencing a possible breakdown and asked for support from the British consulate and local health authorities to either have him forcefully returned to the UK or hospitalised.
He went missing once again on August 3 as Ms Robinson prepared to head back to the UK after jetting off to the Spanish island to look for him.
However, as he went missing once more, Ms Robinson is now concerned a wave of bad weather that has recently battered Majorca could hinder her renewed efforts to locate the young man.
She told Express.co.uk: “I’ve been going out of my mind worrying about where he is. I haven’t slept wondering if he’s dry and safe or if he has food and water.
“Seeing the images of the extreme weather has left me really scared about what’s happening to him right now.”
The Balearic island was battered by heavy storms last week, resulting in an “extreme weather warning” and widespread flooding.
The unsettled front has since moved on but Majorca is now again experiencing high temperatures of up to 32C.
Ms Robinson has since returned to the UK and friends of the family have set up a GoFundMe page to help her raise funds to return to the island and pay for accommodation while she looks for Ben.
She has also resorted to selling some of her possessions to secure the money as friends noted costs in Majorca are still high because of the summer season.
Pal Carla Speight said: “Felix will put every penny she has into finding her son, she did that last time, we know with the astronomical costs she won’t be eating and drinking properly.
“Right now she is distraught, doing everything she can to find him and bring him home. She’s sold loads of her clothes just to pay for flights.”
Ms Robinson reported Ben missing right after he disappeared for a second time but the search for him has so far been unfruitful.
If located, authorities might be able to deport him back to the UK next month, when his European visa runs out.
