Russian towns under assault as 'Ukrainian tanks and saboteurs flood over the border' | World | News

Reports have emerged suggesting Russian forces are preparing to evacuate villages in the Kursk Region in light of a massive Ukrainian incursion.

Messages purportedly shared by residents of the Kursk region town of Sudzha suggest locals are being advised they may soon be asked to leave should Ukrainian forces come closer.

One of the texts, shared by Russian independent media outlet Astra, read: “I called 112 and asked to evacuate my dad. They told me that there is no evacuation at the moment, and when the situation allows, they will be able to do something. But when – is unknown.

“And the organisation of accommodation is only being planned, work is being done, etc. In fact, they cannot help in any way now!

“And on the Internet in the news they write that the city was evacuated,” a resident of the Kursk region writes in a local chat about the situation in Sudzha.”

Earlier reports claimed Ukraine had breached the Russian border with tanks and armoured vehicles.

Telegram military channel Wargozno shared: “In the Kursk region, citizens are being evacuated amid active actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the borders of the region.

“Tanks, armoured vehicles, DRGs and special forces of the elite troops of Ukraine have been abandoned to Kursk.

“The Popular Front is now organizing assistance to residents of the region. We will definitely tell you about this today.”

The Daily Express could not independently verify the reports.
